Digital Photography & Imaging - Week 7

Lecture Our lecture for this week introduced us to Double Exposure, which is the technique of merging multiple images together. The goal for this technique can be used in many ways, such as being used to create surreal, emotional, or humorous pieces. They usually feature silhouettes in the piece. While creating double exposure pieces may look difficult, they're actually quite simple as you can easily recreate the effects on photoshop without the need of a double exposure camera. Tutorial Our tutorial showed us the main tools that we would be using to create the double exposure effects on photoshop. The process that we were introduced to was surprising less complicated than expected and I found it to be rather interesting to try out other tools in photoshop. Practical Our practical for this week had us use what we learned from our tutorial and create our own double exposure pieces. This practical was split into two exercise, Exercise 1 had us follow the instructions and recreate the...

Lecture Our lecture for this week introduced us to poster design and the seven fundamental principles that come with it. Those principles being: Emphasis: - The main focus of what is being presented in the poster and what you want the viewer to focus on. Balance and Alignment: - The placement of elements in a piece so that it doesn't feel one-sided. Contrast: - The difference between elements in a design. - The background should usually be completely different from the colours of your main elements in order to create a good contrast. Repetition: - Can sometimes be seen as a bad thing, however depending on what it is that you are portraying to the viewer, repetition can represent unification and overalls strengthen a design. - If only one element has a unique colour, it can be seen as an error. But if multiple elements share the same colour, it can be seen as a motif. Proportion: - The visual size and weight of the elements in a composition and how they relate to one-another. - Larg...

Lecture Our lecture for this week introduced us to digital photography and the main functions on a camera, those being: Exposure: - The amount of light that reaches the camera sensor or film. - Underexposure: Not enough light is captured / Too dark - Correctly Exposed: The perfect balance of light and dark - Overexposed: Not enough darkness is captured / Too bright Iris/Aperture: - The control over the flow of light that enters the lens - Measured by an F-Stop, indicated by a sequence of F-Numbers: f/1, f/1.4, f/2, f/2.8, f/4, f/5.6, f/8, f/11, f/16, f/22, f/32 and so on. The lower the lens number, the larger the lens opening Shutter: - A small plastic sheet that opens and closes to allow light onto the film or prevent light from reaching the film. - Shutter Speed is measured in seconds: 1/1000s, 1/500s, 1/250s, 1/60s, 1/30s, 1/15s, 1/8s, 1/4s, 1/2s, 1s, 2s, 3s, and so on. The smaller the shutter speed, the more clearer something becomes. ISO: - Originally referred to th...

30.05.2023 - 27.06.2023 / Week 09 - Week 13 Ilhan Rayan bin Khairul Anwar / 0361205 Typography / Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Creative Media Task 3 - Type Design & Communication LECTURES Refer to  Task 1 INSTRUCTIONS TASK 3 / Type Design & Communication We were tasked with using four writing utensils and one unorthodox tool to create five different typefaces using each tool. Once we experimented with them, we would then select our best five for review and our lecturer Mr. Vinod would select the best one. Sketches Originally I wanted to use an boxcutter as my unorthodox tool, however as I started thinking about it realistically, the sharpness of it would cut through the paper and make it difficult to write with, especially since I was using ink for the tool. So instead I opted to use a pair of scissors as I had much better control and was less likely to damage the paper as well. ...
