REFLECTION

Experience
My experience with typography was pretty interesting, I had no expectations for this course and I was very surprised by the amount of effort and work that goes into typography. I found the work in this course to be pretty difficult yet rewarding as the way we progressed with each exercise helped me develop a better understanding of the multitude of stages that typography deals with. Despite the work being challenging, I wasn't surprised by it since my expectations for the workload in university was already high and I expected the worst, but while the the work we were given did take time to handle I really enjoyed the fact that we had a week to work on it rather than having to work on it and submit the next day like in high school. I also like that Mr. Vinod doesn't hold back with his feedback and really pushes you to improve your work as a whole. My opinions on typography are at a neutral area as of right now, I don't particularly enjoy the work but I don't dislike it either.

Observations
Throughout the 14 weeks that we had for this class, I became more observant of the quality of fonts and how well they're being applied to whatever has text written on it. I've started becoming able to see if a font works well in the setting it's being used in and what other styles of fonts may be more suited for the scene. It's opened my eye to how important font actually is and how it can change the whole tone of something.

Findings
I never thought much of typography and only used fonts for projects based on if I liked them or not. Having done this course I have gained a much greater understanding of the technicalities that come with it and how it requires much more attention and focus to determine whether or not a font is suited for whatever purpose I may need it for. I've also learned how small details are able to change the font as a whole and create an entirely new atmosphere to it. I do plan on using what I've learned from this course for my own personal projects and for the other courses that I'll be doing at Taylor's.
