LECTURE NOTES

INSTRUCTIONS

PRACTICAL
For our first project, we had to design a prototype digital CV that contained information about ourselves.

Figure 1.1: Digital CV References, Week 4 (18/9/23)

After doing a bit of googling, I noticed that a lot of CVs had one column dedicated to the profile photo and general information while the rest was dedicated to experiences, summaries and other bits of information. The program that we had to use to design our CV was Figma.

Once I had my layout in mind, I started adding in all of the text first and figuring out how I was going to organise everything.

Next was all of the additional elements and images that I was going to add for the "Projects" section at the bottom. I wasn't sure on how I was going to display it so I decided to use photos that I found off of the internet that matched the module I was taking.

Figure 1.4: Digital CV w/ Elements & Images added, Week 5 (25/9/23)

I was originally going to just have these three images at the bottom for three of my projects but when I saw that everybody was adding all of their previous classes I added in an arrow in the final version to show that you can use it as a carousel. I added in the different Adobe products as my skills since those were the ones that we've been using quite a lot these past two semesters so I added them in to showcase what I can do with them, with Premiere Pro being my best since I've already had two years of experience with it before coming to Taylor's.

FEEDBACK

Week 5
  • Creating a carousel for this CV may be difficult, especially since this is my first time doing coding.

REFLECTION

Experience
Overall this project was pretty interesting to say the least, we didn't do as much coding as I expected and it was more focused on designing a CV and understanding how to place elements and where we should place them in terms of hierarchy. But so far I'm enjoying this module but I am nervous about our work later on which would put a focus on the coding aspect of this class as I have had no experience doing coding in my whole life.

Observation
I didn't really notice much during this project as it was mainly a design-based project which I've done many times before so I didn't really think much of it, but coming up with what to put for my own CV was interesting to me as I had never considered what I would present in my CV before so getting to figure out what to do for it was interesting.

Findings
I've been finding this class to be pretty interesting since it combines both coding and website creation rather than only focusing on one or the other, but from what I've done with coding I've found that it may not be my strong suit nor an area of interest for me. Despite that I am intrigued as to where we'll go with this module.
