I've learnt a lot of the important design principles that I will need for my specialisation as well as any design works that I create in the future. What did I enjoy the most? I enjoyed designing my artwork in Task 3 the most as I felt like I was actually doing something by designing and drawing instead of just watching videos about the design principles and writing down what I see. What did I not enjoy the most? There wasn't much from this module that I didn't enjoy, I enjoyed Task 3 and I didn't mind writing about the design principles that I found in the artwork that I ...

05.03.2024 - 21.03.2024 / Week 05 - Week 07 Ilhan Rayan bin Khairul Anwar / 0361205 Design Principles / Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Creative Media Task 3 - Design INSTRUCTIONS PRACTICAL For Task 3, we were given the task of producing our own work of design that is either inspired / influenced by the work we analysed or a reaction to it. We are allowed to use any medium for the design and any materials as long as we can convey a visual message. Part 1: Sketching To start, I created a few sketches of what I had in mind based off of the design that I analysed in Task 1 and 2. Figure 1.1: Sketch 1 (07/03/24) For my first sketch, I wanted to follow up on the idea of nature thriving despite harsh environments so I drew a daffodil growing in an environment that is completely and utterly destroyed and devoid of life as seen with the burned buildings, trees, and fire in the background. I added in a human in an astronaut suit similar to the human from the design I analysed as I wanted to hav...

20.02.2024 - 05.03.2024 / Week 03 - Week 05 Ilhan Rayan bin Khairul Anwar / 0361205 Design Principles / Bachelor of Design (Honours) in Creative Media Task 2 - Visual Analysis LECTURES   Topic 6: Visual Analysis Visual Analysis  is a method of understanding designs that focus on visual elements and principles and recognising the choices a designer makes in their designs in order to communicate ideas, content or meanings. Visual Analysis is a critical part of visual literacy, a skill that helps people critically interpret images wherever they see them, such as on social media, in entertainment, advertisements, the news, or elsewhere. We are constantly confronted with visual media thanks to modern day technology and so practicing visual analysis can sharpen our critical thinking and judgemental skills so we can seek out answers rather than passively receiving information. Visual Analysis has three phases:  Observation ,  Analysis , and  Interpretation. Observ...

Designs must always be well thought-out and executed. There are seven elements of design, those being: Point The simplest element of design. A point used as a repetitive mark forms a line. As the point moves in space, other 2D and 3D figures are created Line They can be active, static, passive, aggressive, sensual, or mechanical. They can indicate directions, define boundaries of shapes and spaces, imply volumes or solid masses, and suggest motion or emotion. Can be grouped together depict qualities of light and shadow as well as patterns and textures. Shape Refers to the expanse within the outline of 2D area or within a 3D object. Becomes visible w...
