Final Project - Infographic Video Animation
INSTRUCTIONS
PRACTICAL
For our Final Project, we had to find a topic that we found interesting, create a presentation on that topic and create a three minute animated video about the topic. Because we only had seven weeks to do this, we started this project at the start of the semester and worked on it throughout.
We started off by discussing what topics would be interesting to discuss as we were not given a limit or guideline as to what it is we could research, which lead to us having ideas such as mental health, issues within the animation industry, and the iceberg concept. In the end we voted for which idea would be best and we went for coffee and the culture associated with it. Once we had the concept chosen, we split the work between group members, half researching different prominent coffee cultures in the world and the other half working on things like objective, purpose and goals.
I took on the sole duty of studying Finland as I was already quite knowledgeable about the country beforehand so it only made sense for me to research coffee culture in the country. Finland was chosen as one of the countries due to the fact that they consume the most coffee in the world per person, with the average Finnish citizen consuming 3-5 cups of coffee daily. The other locations we chose for our presentation were Vietnam and South America as they both have distinct coffee cultures that stem from the country's upbringing and history.

Once we had the research done, we moved what we had into our presentation so that when our time to present came in Week 6, we would be ready as we had already revised and reviewed our presentation ahead of time.

I designed three different slides for our presentation that compiled all the information that I found during the research phase of our final project. I would also be given the role of presenting these slides during Week 6 as I was well versed with the information and I was also the only one who knew how to pronounce the Finnish terms.
Once my contribution to the slides was done, I moved onto working on the script with my partner Wing Kie as we were given the role while other group members had to do stuff like editing, storyboarding, and sound effects.
Our story that we had planned was to have a cafe owner fall asleep in his cafe and is visited by three sentient coffee beans from the three countries we chose telling him about coffee culture as well as the importance of it. It was mainly Wing Kie who wrote most of the scripts and she had me come in and review the content to make sure nothing felt out of place or incorrect.

The last thing I contributed to our final project was providing my voice for our video animation as I was tasked with doing the narration for the Finnish segment of our video since I did all the work for that section.
REFLECTION
I found this project to be interesting as we had to work on it in the background while we worked on other assignments and projects instead of having a dedicated amount of time just for this project alone, though I can understand their reasoning as we have less time in a short semester compared to a long semester.
I actually enjoyed the research segment of this project a lot as I'm studying the Finnish language as a hobby and I love Finnish culture as a whole so getting to have our topic be connected to Finland in some way was a lot of fun for me. I do feel like I could have helped out more with the script writing but whenever me and Wing Kie had to write the script, she would already have it all done before I could have a hand in writing it so I was mainly relegated to reviewing and editing it for her.
Overall I felt that this would have been a bit more enjoyable had I done this module in a full semester but I found it engrossing nonetheless.
