Task 01 - Proposal Development
INSTRUCTIONS
PRACTICAL
Major Project is split into two parts, Major Project 1 and Major Project 2. For Major Project 1 are tasked with forming a group of 4 students from the same specialization area and coming up with a large-scale project that we are to complete by the end of our third year. This module is meant to help us better understand industry training and it's workflow as well as having something substantial for our portfolio.
For Task 1, we were required to brainstorm and develop a project proposal. The proposal would include a project overview (title, problem statement, proposed idea), project specifications (format, duration, genre, visual style), team roles, responsibilities, and a project delivery timeline. We started off by figuring out roles and responsibilities within the group
Director: Akif
Art Director(s): Ilhan, Zi Qi
Project Manager: Elysa
Animator(s): Akif, Zi Qi

Once we had our roles in mind, we began to think about what our topic could be as we were not given a limit as to what we could do for our Major Project. One of my groupmates Akif had the idea of doing something similar to an animation that he saw on YouTube and felt that we could do something similar to that but with buildings since Malaysia has a lot of old buildings that get torn down. When he showed the video to me I came up with the theme of "the importance of preserving historical and cultural landmarks" so that our project would have a problem that we would have to solve.
After we did some more digging we found a location called "Kellie's Castle," an unfinished mansion in Perak built by a Scottish man called William Kellie-Smith that was forgotten about until it was rediscovered in the late 70s / early 80s. The story behind the castle (from what we could gather) was that it was built for Kellie's wife but he died before construction of the project could be completed, leaving the castle in a half-completed state and was eventually forgotten about.
Once we had the basic idea for what we wanted to do, we started working on the script as well as character details. We made a collaborative google doc where we would write down all of our ideas as well as brainstorming the story structure, and the characters. We also had a Miro board where we would put all of our research and studies as reference.

Me and my groupmate Elysa worked on writing the character descriptions since that's something we're both good at. While Elysa already had things like strengths, weaknesses and and motivations done I decided to add in personality traits so we can better understand how these characters operate within the world and how they act and interact with others.
With what was required for the Task 1 completed, we input all of our collective information and ideas into a Canva slideshow and presented it to our lecturers.

REFLECTION
I wish I contributed more during this task, I mainly just helped out here and there and didn't do as much work as my other groupmates did. I do feel like coming up with the main purpose and problem statement for the project was a vital step for us, but I believe that I could have done more for the group.
