Digital Photography & Imaging - Week 9 & Week 10
Week 9
Lecture
Our lecture for this week introduced us to Surrealism, Digital Surrealism and the fundamentals that come with it. While realism takes ordinary subject matters and recreates them with non-exotic and non-extraordinary effects, surrealism twists reality and explores the subconscious mind using distorted and dream like imagery that defies logic using bizarre imagery and juxtaposing ideas and concepts.
Tutorial
We watched a short demo on how to create loop animations for Instagram Stories.
Practical
Because the Monday of this week was a practical and because we were behind on some work, we skipped the practical for this week and moved on.
Week 10
Lecture
Our lecture for this week introduced us to Adobe After Effects, an animation software used for animation, visual effects, and motion picture compositing. After Effects is often used in post production for film, television and web video creation. It works by manipulating vectors and rasterized art to create the animated effect. Adobe AE uses the same layering system as all other Adobe applications.
Tutorial
We watched a demonstration video provided by our lecturer Mr. Fauzi on how to work with Adobe After Effects.
Practical
Our practical assignment for this week was to take a photoshop file provided by Mr. Fauzi and animate it in any way we want to in After Effects, so long as it doesn't exceed fifteen seconds. The image seen below is the composition provided to us.
Exercise
The practical exercise for this week was pretty fun, what I really enjoy about this class is that we have a lot of creative liberty when it comes to our work which allows for us to express ourselves much more easily than other class. Along with that, it also helped us familiarise with this application and made working with it for our final project much easier. For the animation, I wanted to have the shark be the primary issue and the fencer having to eliminate him before he can cause any more damage.
